Chongwe Cleaning Day: this week at VOH Africa

Here’s what’s happening this week at Villages of Hope-Africa…

Chongwe: Cleaning Day

This week the kids at VOH Chongwe finished writing their end of the term exams and enjoyed spending time helping their teachers clean the classrooms and making sure they are ready for the start of our next term. Every student chips in and does their part. The younger students focus on their classrooms and the older students also help weed the gardens and grass areas.

We value teaching our children to take pride in their school and to show appreciation for the care that they receive at the Village by taking part in cleaning days like these.

Burundi: Meet Rachel

VOH Burundi is thankful for the amazing changes in Rachel’s life since she first became a part of the VOH family. Sadly, her mother is mentally ill and as a result, Rachel moved into our first children’s home back in 2010. We are thrilled to see the happy young woman she has become. From a small young girl to a teenager, she is excelling at school, growing physically, and learning about God’s love for her. We are thankful for are faithful supporters who make stories like Rachel’s possible!

Kenya: Building Friendships

At VOH Kenya, the girls share a deep bond with each other. It’s commonplace to find a group of girls sitting together outside during recess talking, laughing, and playing around. Most of the girls in these photos are orphans living at VOH Kenya children’s homes. These girls have become family, a true sisterhood.

Friendships are so important for all children! At VOH Kenya we foster good friendships among the children. We train them on the importance of inclusion, forgiveness, kindness, anti-bullying, and respecting one another.

Kitwe: Donation from Shield!

This week at VOH Kitwe our older school and youth empowerment female students along with our female staff each received a bottle of roll-on deodorant from Shield, a local manufacturing company. Shield asked us if we would allow them to visit us and distribute this donation as part of their local promotion program. We were happy to accommodate them and took the opportunity to speak about personal hygiene with everyone who received this gift.

Malawi: Easter Break!

This week at VOH Malawi the children are enjoying their Easter holiday, which is a 2-week break from school. Though they are not in school during this time, we are still operating our feeding program to ensure they receive all the nutrition their bodies need. The Vitameal porridge we serve contains 100% of the nutrition their growing bodies need each day.

Zimbabwe: Community Health Outreach

At VOH Zimbabwe, community health outreach is part of our regular program at our onsite clinic. Here are some children from one of our neighbouring schools where we run a daily feeding program. Touching lives and ensuring health for children is our mandate and one of our great joys as Village of Hope.
